Olbrich Lacquering Line

At the end of 2019, we, the Bocholt based market leader for coating systems, received a contract from a well-known German producer of panel shaped materials for facades. OLBRICH will supply the production line including drives & controls and complete scada system and thus equip the customer with state-of-the-art technology.

The new line is characterized by the implementation of a roll-coating system and is used for one-sided coating of special papers. In addition, the line includes OLBRICH’s highly effective CTS-TP nozzles, which are a unique selling point in the market and have meanwhile established themselves worldwide as the benchmark in drying technology. The working width is up to 2,200 mm and on-site production will run continuously. The production capacity of this coating line will be up to 12 million square meters per year.

DECORATIVE FILM INDUSTRY STILL VERY POWERFUL

We are pleased that, despite ongoing contact and travel limitations, we are able to remain in close contact with our customers and interested parties about specific projects. In the first half of this year, we received two further orders that underline our leading market position in the field of decorative films. Those orders include a lacquering machine for a leading producer of high-quality artificial leather for the automotive industry. The machine serves as an extension of an OLBRICH lacquering line and is a characterized by a high-precision, indirect coating module. The working width is up to 1.600 mm. The other order includes a complete laminating and embossing line for lamination of up to three different films. The products can be very diverse, from furniture films to self-adhesive films. The speed of the line is over 40 m/min. and the working width is up to 1,700 mm. A special feature of the line is the special winding technology, which we at OLBRICH have developed explicitly for this order: With the newly developed cutting and splicing technology, start-up and product changeover losses are minimized even further. Thus, the overall efficiency of the entire line sustainably increases – to the benefit of our customers.

VIRTUAL LIVE DEMOS OF DIGITAL PRINTING MACHINE

Although England remains impacted by COVID19, we none the less continued to pursue internal commissioning of the second digital print engine at Ricoh´s premises in Telford, U.K. In respect of ongoing travel limitations and quarantine rules, we launched “virtual demos” with our Partner Ricoh. The machine was printing at speeds of up to 70 m/min from roll to roll on to ink jet paper. Customers, who attended the first 2½ to 3 hr. long sessions, highly appreciated the technical expertise during the presentations and were impressed by the machine demonstration that utilized up to seven web cams installed around the machine.
