Aniflo with Maximum Productivity

The ViVA 420 is among the most productive intermittent presses on the market. The VIVA 420 combines the advantages of intermittent technology and reduced set-up times with a wider width, longer print length and speeds to perform on the long runs.

With a width of 16.53 inches (420 mm), a basic cylinder size of 19 inches, and a maximum speed of 12.000 imp/h, the ViVA 420 is among the most productive intermittent presses. For instance, with a print length close to 13” (325 mm), the VIVA 420 can reach a production speed of 60 m/min, which means more than 1,500 m2 per hour.

The ViVA 420 offers all finishing processes in-line: semi-rotary hot-foil, flat-bed foil and fluted foil, photopolymer embossing, flexo varnish, lamination, screen-printing, die-cutting…

This high-performance solution is a great answer to longer runs with added-value, and can be competitive to other technologies, such as flexo or rotary offset, and a good substitute to sheet-fed offset presses that do not offer in-line finishing.


Semi-Rotary Hot Foiling

Hot-foil stamping is often seen as an expensive technology, becasue of engraved cylinders.
The ViVA 420 uses 1-mm magnesium dies or copper dies (on magnetic cylinder), to reduce the cost of toolings for short runs.

Speed: with right consumables, speeds of 35 meters per minute can be reached.

Pressure control: with a print area of 305mm by 340mm, the unit has a great control over pressure to allow optimal foil transfer even for solid areas or fine details.

Foil saving system: The unit comes with a foil-saving system, adjusting the foil movement to the individual label step. Save up to 80 percent on foil consumption.

Multi-foil solution: Thanks to friction shafts, it is possible to transfer several foils in the width at the same time, generating savings by reducing the width of each roll of foil.


Flat-Bed Foiling/Fluted Foiling

In 2015, Codimag introduced a new flat-bed foiling unit. This unit offers multiple opportunities to achieve embellishment options, with or without foil:

  • hot-foil stamping
  • fluted foiling
  • blind embossing
  • micro embossing

The unit offers the possibility to work with foil along or across the web, and therefore to use multi-stroke mode. It is possible to use different processes on the same job in one pass.

The foil motion system offers the option to work with several rolls of foil for more sophisticated label design. The foil saving system reduces the foil consumption to the individual label step in the most efficient direction.

The unit can do up to 5 strokes per print repeat, and up to 18 000 strokes per hour.

Codimag is the only press manufacturer offering a flat-bed unit, in-line on an intermittent press with no loops.


Semi-Rotary Embossing

The photopolymer embossing unit can do one-level embossing or material texturing. The use of photopolymer plates is very efficient and economical. The unit comes with 2 magnetic cylinders to ease plate mounting, and with a Gap Master system to control precisely the embossing depth.


Screen-Printing and Ink-Jet

Codimag and SPG Prints have jointly developed a semi-rotary screen-printing unit, to print any jobs with single-size screens.

Set-up time and waste are optimized.

The unit can work with both RotaMesh and RotaPlate, in order to reduce consumable cost. Rings can be reused for any repeats and jobs.

Clear “no-label look” labels are obviously a great application for screen-printing technology. Still, screen-printing can offer solutions for high-gloss colours, special varnishes, relief varnish or Braille, for different markets: beverages, food, detergents…

Ink-Jet Digital Sceen-Printing
In 2016 at Labelexpo Americas, Codimag partnered with XAAR to introduce an ink-jet printbar for opaque white application in-line on the VIVA.
A very high opacity, together with ink-jet digital flexibility, give a great alternative to traditional screen-printing technology, with an equivalent quality and similar speeds.


Flexo Varnish/Lamination

Mainly used for UV varnish, the flexo unit includes a circulation pump. It can be equipped with magnetic cylinder for steel-based photopolymer, or with a sleeve for off-press flexo plate mounting.

A wet laminating system can be mounted on top of the flexo unit. In that case, the flexo prints a UV glue.



Die-cutting is based on a single size magnetic cylinder for all repeats, and use flexible dies. Cutting depth is controlled precisely by a Gap Master system.

Slitting and edge trimming can be achieved by scissor knives, razor knives or a scorer unit.


ANIFLO Technology

The ANIFLO technology combines a flexo ink system (an Anilox roller) with an offset image carrier. It is a compelling short run solution that fits perfectly between digital and flexo and with inline finishing efficiencies. Codimag’s Viva press with advanced ANIFLO technology was first introduced in 2007 and is in production at many leading label printers facilities worldwide.

  • Keyless inking system with a short roller train providing offset quality print
