MABEG is known throughout the industry for its high-quality sheet feeders and other products like sheet stackers, reel sheeters and components found on many printing presses and other machines in the graphic arts industry. MABEG also produces a range of offline inspection and individualization systems. MABEG is an independent company focused on designing, manufacturing and servicing high-class products for the worldwide graphic arts industry.
MABEG just opened a new demo facility to show the performance of the MBP 50. The demo center is at MABEG headquarters, which is very conveniently located next to Frankfurt/Main International Airport, Germany.
The MABEG inspection systems are speciality products for the sectors where “perfect quality” is absolutely essential. Additionally, brand protection characteristics, such as labels and codes with invisible ink, as well as general numbering and individualization, can be realized. The systems provide complete quality inspection and combine with the sorting of “below quality sheets” or blanks and allow additional features, i.e. labeling and ink-jet-printing.
While currency, passport and stamp production would be obvious examples, there are many areas of the packaging market that also fall into this category - from pharmaceutical packaging producers to cosmetics and beverages carton suppliers. In addition, check book printers and security printers of all types need to provide highly accurate stacks of printed sheets, prior to post-press operations. In many instances, the checking of printed sheets is still being carried out by the human eye – a slow, expensive and far less precise solution.
The automatic sheet inspection system (MSP 104) checks and sorts printed sheets much more thoroughly and faster than the human eye and without any additional personnel costs. Sheets are guided quickly and safely through the entire machine without any marking. MSP Inspection systems can handle sheets up to a maximum of 1060 x 830 mm (W x L; optionally 1200 and 1450 mm) from a minimum size of just 300 x 300 mm.
The Modular Blank Processor (MBP) focuses on cut-out individual product blanks, which can be checked prior to final assembly or gluing, as typical with carton production. This offline inspection system also allows the checking and sorting of hot foil stamping and other expensive process steps. It is capable of running up to 40,000 products/hour, depending on size and shape. Products up to a maximum size of 500 x 400 mm can be inspected and sorted.
Many modules can be added to the basic machine for specific types of operations, including:
- Inspection
Equipped with an inspection system, the Mabeg MSP can scan one side (or both sides) of a sheet for defects and check the position of the printing image on the sheet. These checks need not be restricted to print-technical criteria – positioning of labels, for instance, or invisible security elements can be checked as well.
- Labeling
For applications of all types of labels, including RF and security labels.
- Marking / Printing
If an ink-jet-system is integrated, variable print information can be added. Sorted, flawed sheets can be diverted and delivered, separately.
- Counting
After sorting, the number of good sheets and rejects may be determined, via a counter.
